WINTER ![]()
Everywhere I look, everywhere I go, The trees are heavy and laden with snow. The fearful firs lean into the wind, Dreading the ice that winter will send. Huddled together in winter's pale light, Frozen in time during winter's long night, Awaiting the call of a far off spring When daffodils bloom and robins take wing, Then clad in emerald clothes they will sway, An evergreen chorus line laughing at play. But for now they wait, they sleep and they dream Of spring's warm sunshine and meadows of green, Butterflies floating on breezes soft and sweet, While new woodland babies gambol at their feet.

SPRING ![]()
Daffodils gossip and preen in the sun, Glad that the ice and the winter are done. Lounging near fences along country lanes, They lift their faces to spring's welcome rains. Tickled by hummingbirds and buzzed by bees, Plucked by children and canopied by trees, They're the perfect symbol of hope and spring, Hinting of pleasures the summer will bring. They charm our faded world with golden grace And make our jaded world a sweeter place.

AUTUMN ![]()
The crunch of dried leaves and the sharp smell of wood smoke Remind me it's autumn and sweet memories evoke Of cake walks and cat walks and a huge hunter's moon Hanging over the barns like a golden doubloon. In deep reds and rusts the turning trees are dressed, The fruit is put by and the apples are pressed. Canning is finished, the cellars are filled, Pantries are stocked and the grain has been milled. The meat has been salted and wood stands in a stack To prepare for the hardships that winter brings back. Marching and singing to a funeral dirge with no rhyme, Fall is the pallbearer of my beloved summertime.
